With origins dating back to 1913, the Association of British Investigators is now recognised as the premier professional body for private investigators working in the United Kingdom. Throughout its long history, the Association has worked hard to improve the standing and reputation of the investigative professional.

The Association organises many seminars and workshops. These are designed to maintain standards and to provide a regular flow of information to the regional membership. The Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain (RPSGB) is the regulatory and professional body for pharmacists in England, Scotland and Wales. The primary objective of the Society is to lead, regulate and develop the pharmacy profession.

Pharmacy relates to the actions and uses of drugs as medicines. Component sciences are:

• pharmacology (how drugs act on biological targets)
• chemistry (organic and inorganic; biochemistry)
• pharmaceutics (formulation science including technology of powders liquids and gasses)
• microbiology including bacteriology)
• therapeutics (how medicines are used best; considering safety, efficacy, effectiveness and cost-effectiveness)
