Asset Tracing

The Problem

Business transactions:

  • Has a customer gone bankrupt owing money?
  • Has a customer disappeared with stock without paying?
  • Has a customer stopped paying you?

Divorce and personal relationships:

  • Is your client going through a high net worth divorce?
  • Do you need assistance in finding hidden assets that you believe your client is entitled to?
  • Is your client considering leaving their spouse and needs to identify their assets?

Blayze only accepts personal instructions via solicitors.

The Service

Blayze can assist in identifying:

  • UK property and land
  • UK directorships
  • Corporate assets
  • Related parties
  • Offshore assets

For many classes of asset there are no centralised records of ownership that can be searched by name to identify assets held by an individual.

In situations where it is suspected that an individual owns an asset then this in some cases can be confirmed by searching ownership records by asset.

For assets where there are no central records of ownership we undertake research and intelligence gathering to identify assets and confirm ownership.

UK Property and Land

There is not a facility to search Land Registry records by name as it is not allowed by HM Land Registry. It is however possible via a Court Order, the granting of which would be conditional on a Judge’s view of the applicant’s reason for the information.

In the absence of any court order our methodology involves systematically reviewing previous residential addresses, or addresses known from intelligence to be associated with the subject in any way. Land Registry records are able to be searched by address to confirm ownership of a property.

UK Directorships and associated shareholdings

Companies House records are searched by name to identify directorships currently held and previously held by the subject. In some cases it is possible to identify shareholdings held by directors of a company.

Boats and private Aircraft

It is not possible to search UK records by name to identify ownership of boats and private aircraft.

Caravans are very difficult to identify as they have very few identifying features and are not separately registered anywhere.

Time-share Properties

It is not possible to search for time-shares as there are too many timeshare companies. Individuals do not actually own any property; rather, the time-share companies do.

Litigation is expensive both in terms of your time, and your legal costs.

You can have a good case, and get a court judgment in your favour ... and end up with nothing to show for it except your legal costs that you have to pay.

If the other party has no assets, then you will get no money.

Asset searches assist in identifying the assets the other party has, so you can then make an informed decision as to whether to proceed to take legal action.
